Society of Exploration Geophysicist Universitas Jambi-Student Chapter
Embracing a mission of connecting the world of applied geophysics, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) is a not-for-profit organization supporting 27,000 members from 128 countries. The mission of SEG is to promote the science of geophysics and the education of applied geophysicists. SEG, founded in 1930, fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and development of natural resources, in characterizing the near surface, and in mitigating earth hazards
SEG Student Chapters empower students to participate and spearhead projects that will address issues, challenges, and opportunities related to SEG’s mission of promoting the science of geophysics. Providing opportunities for leadership, achievement, and cultivation of ideas, SEG Student Chapters open the door for students to actively participate in projects and initiatives that promote the science of geophysics.
Society of Exploration Geophysicist Universitas Jambi-Student Chapter (SEG UNJA-SC) was established in 2015, composed of approximately 70 members from geophysical engineering of science and technology faculty in Universitas Jambi. This society is conducting programs that are in line with the purpose of the SEG to perform activities that are very beneficial for students in geophysics. The SEG UNJA-SC have undertaken activities that support such academic activities like Honorary Lecture in 2017 and 2018 by bringing in geophysics expert speakers from abroad to share knowledge and learning. All persons interested in the science of geophysics who qualify as student, staff, or faculty of the University are eligible for membership.
